Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 But when sight is confounded 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 on that Day will man exclaim "Whither to flee?" 10 By no means! NO refuge! 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And agony is heaped on agony; 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
