The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And dense gardens. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
