A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 A Book revealed to you-- so let there be no straitness in your breast on account of it-- that you may warn thereby, and a reminder close to the believers. 2 "Follow what has been sent down unto you by your Sustainer, and follow no masters other than Him. How seldom do you keep this in mind! 3 And how many a [rebellious] community have We destroyed, with Our punishment coming upon it by night, or while they were resting at noontide! 4 Then naught was their cry when Our violence came upon them save that they said: verily we have been the wrong-doers. 5 So We shall call to account those to whom Messengers were sent, and We shall call to account the Messengers (to see how dutifully they conveyed the Message, and how people responded to it). 6 Then We shall narrate to them with knowledge the whole account. For surely, We were not away from them. 7 On that Day, the weighing is true. He whose scales are heavy those are the prosperers, 8 As for those whose bad deeds weigh heavier, they will lose their souls for their injustice to Our revelations. 9 We have established you in the earth and there appointed for you livelihood; little thanks you show. 10
