Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 or a little more, but recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We seized him with no gentle grip. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
