The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
