The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
