The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
