The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25
