Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 and the smooth runners 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 Verily, [O men,] you are deeply at variance as to what to believe: 8 Deluded away from the Qur'an is he who is deluded. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They used to sleep but little in the night. 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 and in your selves; what, do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 Then by the Lord of the heaven and earth, indeed, it is truth - just as [sure as] it is that you are speaking. 23
