The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
