The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
