The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 A book inscribed, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
