He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 uplifted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble and pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
