Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Verily, We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people (Saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment." 1 He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner, 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said; 'My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day, 5 And my calling hath only increased them in fleeing. 6 “And whenever I called them, so that You may forgive them, they always thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their clothes, and remained stubborn and were extremely haughty.” 7 Then surely I called to them aloud: 8 and preached to them in public, and also addressed them in secret. 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 "'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 And indeed He has created you through various grades: 14 Behold ye not in what wise Allah hath created seven heavens in storeys. 15 ‘And in them, has illuminated the moon, and made the sun a lamp?’ 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 and [then] He will bring you forth [from It] in resurrection. 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
