The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 and by the Book in lines 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And the swollen sea 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 No one can avert it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
