And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 Do not betray me 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
