The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 it is no merriment. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
