And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 He fled to the overloaded ship. 140 And then they cast lots, and he was the one who lost; 141 Then a fish swallowed him, and he was blameworthy. 142 Had he not been of them who glorify Allah, 143 he would indeed have remained in its belly till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 144 ۞ but We caused him to be cast forth on a desert shore, sick [at heart] as he was, 145 And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more, 147 and they believed. So We let them enjoy life for a while. 148 Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?- 149 Or created We the angels females while they were present? 150 Behold, it is one of their fabrications that they say: 151 “Allah has begotten.” They are liars! 152 "He has chosen daughters in preference to sons"! 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 Why do you not reflect? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Bring your book if what you say is true. 157 And they have appointed a relationship between Him and the jinns; and indeed the jinns surely know that they will be brought forth. 158 Purity is to Allah from the matters they fabricate. 159 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 160 So surely you and what you worship, 161 You cannot make anyone rebel against Him. 162 unless it be such as rushes towards the blazing fire [of his own accord]! 163 Of us there is none but hath a station assigned. 164 “And indeed we, with our wings spread, await the command.” 165 and we glorify God". 166 AND, INDEED, they [who deny the truth] have always been wont to say, 167 "Had we received guidance from the people living before us, 168 we would have certainly been sincere servants of God". 169 Yet now (that it has come) they refuse to believe in it; but they will come to know soon. 170 And assuredly Our word hath already gone forth Our bondmen, the sent ones: 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. 173 Therefore turn away from them till a time, 174 And (then) see them, so they too shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 Stay away from them for a while 178 and see; soon they shall see! 179 Glory be to thy Lord, the Lord of Glory, above that they describe! 180 And peace be unto those sent (to warn). 181 It is only God, the Lord of the Universe, who deserves all praise. 182
