Is it not an indication to those who inherit the land after its people (who thus reaped the consequence of evil-doing) that, if We will, We can smite them for their sins and print upon their hearts so that they hear not? 100 We have told you the stories of those towns: their messengers came to them with clear signs, but they were never going to believe in something they had already rejected. Thus God seals up the hearts of those who deny the truth. 101 We found no covenant in the most part of them; indeed, We found the most part of them ungodly. 102 Then, after them, We sent Moses with our tokens unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they repelled them. Now, see the nature of the consequence for the corrupters! 103 Moses said, "Pharaoh, I am a messenger from the Lord of the Universe, 104 Approved upon condition that I speak concerning Allah nothing but the truth. I come unto you (lords of Egypt) with a clear proof from your Lord. So let the Children of Israel go with me. 105 [Pharaoh] said, "If you have come with a sign, then bring it forth, if you should be of the truthful." 106 Thereupon he cast down his rod, when, lo it was a serpent manifest. 107 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it was white to the beholders. 108
