Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 in a lofty Garden 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
