The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
