Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 stand up to pray for much of the night. 2 A half of it or a little less 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
