Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
