A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 This Book has been sent down to you; so do not hesitate to warn (the unbelievers) through it, and remind the faithful. 2 Follow what has been revealed to you by your Lord, and do not follow any other lord apart from Him. Yet little do you care to remember. 3 And how many cities have We destroyed, and Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 And when Our punishment came upon them, they had nothing to say for themselves, and could only cry, "Verily, we were wrongdoers!" 5 So We shall call to account those to whom Messengers were sent, and We shall call to account the Messengers (to see how dutifully they conveyed the Message, and how people responded to it). 6 Then surely, We shall narrate unto them (their whole story) with knowledge, and indeed We were not absent. 7 On that Day, the weighing is true. He whose scales are heavy those are the prosperers, 8 whereas those whose weight is light in the balance - it is they who will have squandered their own selves by their wilful rejection of Our messages. 9 We have made you inhabit the land and provided you with the means of sustenance. Only a few of you give thanks. 10
