Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 What is the Reality? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
