Thamood cried lies to the warnings 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns). 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 Indeed, We have made the Quran easy to learn lessons from. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warnings. 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 Thus do We recompense the grateful ones. 35 And (Lut) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning. 36 Then they even solicited his guests from him, whereupon We blotted out their eyes, (telling them): “Now have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings.” 37 And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning. 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 40
