'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
