The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 by the moon, which follows it, 2 And by the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; 3 And by oath of the night when it hides it 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 The Thamud tribe rejected the truth because of their arrogance, 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 and He fears not the issue thereof. 15
