The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the mansions of the stars, 1 by the Promised Day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 Cursed were the companions of the trench 4 Full of fire fed by faggots, 5 They sat by it 6 And they witnessed what they were doing against the believers (i.e. burning them). 7 And they did not take vengeance on them for aught except that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praised, 8 Whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is a Witness of all things. 9 Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire. 10 Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success. 11 The grip of your Lord is severe indeed! 12 it is He who begins and repeats [His creation], 13 And He is the Forgiving, and the Loving. 14 Lord of the Throne of Glory, 15 Always doing whatever He wills. 16 Hast thou received the story of the hosts, 17 Of Pharaoh and (the tribe of) Thamud? 18 And yet, they who are bent on denying the truth persist in giving it the lie: 19 And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them. 20 Nay; but this is a glorious Qur'an, 21 (Inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved! 22
