The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 then he mustered 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
