The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 by the much-visited House, 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 And the swollen sea, 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
