Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the emissary winds, sent one after another (for men's benefit), 1 Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, 2 And scatter (things) far and wide; 3 And those that distinguish distinctly, 4 by those who bring down the reminder, 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall. 7 Then when the stars become dim; 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away; 10 And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time, 11 to what day shall they be deferred? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement? 14 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 15 Destroyed We not the ancients? 16 and then follow them with the later folk? 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 for a term pre-ordained? 22 So We decreed. How excellent are We as decreers! 23 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 24 Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself 25 For the living and the dead. 26 And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 (It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false! 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 that will offer no [cooling] shade and will be of no avail against the flame 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 and as bright as a herd of yellow camels. 33 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. 36 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 37 This is the day of decision: We have gathered you and those of yore. 38 If you are cunning, then try your cunning against Me! 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
