And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 There is no life beyond our life in this world: we die and we live [but once,] and we shall never be raised from the dead! 37 This man has forged a mere lie in the name of Allah and we shall never believe what he says." 38 The Messenger prayed, "Lord, help me; they have called me a liar". 39 He said, 'In a little they will be remorseful.' 40 And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! 41 Then, after them, We brought forth other generations. 42 No nation can anticipate their term, nor can they delay it. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron), with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and manifest authority, 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Prophet Eisa) and his mother a sign, and We gave them shelter on a height, a place to stay and visible springs. 50
