He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 you attended to him, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and in awe of God 9 you ignore him. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and let the earth to break open 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and fodder 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
