The tribe of Thamud also rejected the messengers. 141 When their brother Salih said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 142 I am for you an honest Messenger. 143 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? 146 In gardens and watersprings. 147 And corn-fields and palm-trees whereof the spathes are fine? 148 And you hew houses out of the mountains exultingly; 149 Therefor keep your duty to Allah and obey me, 150 Do not obey the orders of the transgressors 151 who spread evil in the land with no reform." 152 They said: "Surely you are deluded. 153 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; then produce a sign, if thou art one of the truthful.' 154 He said, "Here is a she-camel. She shall have her turn of drinking, as you have yours, each on an appointed day, 155 Do not cause her to suffer lest you become subject to the torment of the great day (of Judgment)." 156 But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets. 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 159
