The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 161 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Must you, of all people, [lustfully] approach men, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said: "If you cease not. O Lout (Lot)! Verily, you will be one of those who are driven out!" 167 He said, "I am one of those who abhors your ways. 168 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" 169 So We saved him and his household, every one, 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 Thereafter We annihilated the rest. 172 and We rained on them a rain; and evil is the rain of them that are warned. 173 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 174 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
