The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
