The people of Lut rejected the messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 Have fear of God and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 164 Do you approach males among the worlds 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said: 'Truly, I am a detester of what you do' 168 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 175
