The folk of Lot denied the messengers (of Allah), 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 Said they: "Indeed, If thou desist not, O Lot, thou wilt most certainly be expelled [from this township]!" 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 Except one old woman who remained behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
