The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem 1 Do the people reckon that they will be left to say 'We believe,' and will not be tried? 2 Yea, indeed, We did test those who lived before them; and so, [too, shall be tested the people now living: and] most certainly will God mark out those who prove themselves true, and most certainly will He mark out those who are lying. 3 Or do they think - they who do evil deeds [while claiming to have attained to faith] - that they can escape Us? Bad, indeed, is their judgment! 4 Whoever looks forward [with hope and awe] to meeting God [on Resurrection Day, let him be ready for it]: for, behold, the end set by God [for everyone's life] is bound to come - and He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 5 He who strives, strives for himself. Allah is the Rich, independent of the worlds. 6 As for those who believe and do good works, We shall acquit them of their sins, and recompense them with the best for what they were doing. 7 And We have enjoined upon man goodness to parents. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do. 8 And those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will surely admit them among the righteous [into Paradise]. 9 And among men is he who says: We believe in Allah; but when he is persecuted in (the way of) Allah he thinks the persecution of men to be as the chastisement of Allah; and if there come assistance from your Lord, they would most certainly say: Surely we were with you. What! is not Allah the best knower of what is in the breasts of mankind. 10 And Allah most certainly knows those who believe, and as certainly those who are Hypocrites. 11 And the Unbelievers say to those who believe: "Follow our path, and we will bear (the consequences) of your faults." Never in the least will they bear their faults: in fact they are liars! 12 They shall bear their own burdens, and other burdens besides. On the Day of Resurrection they shall be questioned about their false assertions. 13
