۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
