The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
