The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from the latter. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 and extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
