Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
