Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 in a high Garden, 22 its fruits are near. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 And not known my account! 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
