The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 the unbelievers which none can prevent. 2 (A Penalty) from Allah, Lord of the Ways of Ascent. 3 The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years. 4 Therefore endure with a goodly patience. 5 They think that it (the Day of Judgment) is far away. 6 But We see it (quite) near. 7 On the day when the heavens become like molten metal. 8 and the mountains become like wool, 9 No loyal friend will ask another loyal friend 10 They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children 11 his wife, his brother, 12 his kinsmen who gave him refuge (from hardship) 13 And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him. 14 By no means! Verily it is a Flame. 15 will strip-off the flesh 16 It shall claim him who turned and fled (from truth), 17 And accumulated wealth and hoarded it. 18 ۞ Surely man was created fretful, 19 When evil toucheth him, he is bewailing. 20 but when they are fortunate, they become niggardly 21 Except the observers of prayer - 22 who are steadfast in prayer; 23 And those in whose wealth exists a recognised right, 24 For the petitioner and the deprived - 25 and those who believe in the Day of Judgement 26 And those who fear the torment of their Lord, 27 Verily the torment of their Lord is not a thing to feel secure from. 28 And those who of their private parts are guards. 29 except from their wives and slave girls, in which case they are not to be blamed, 30 But those who seek more than this will be transgressors; 31 And those who of their trusts and their covenant are keepers. 32 Who uphold their testimonies, 33 and who are constant in their prayers. 34 They will be honoured in the Gardens of Bliss. 35
