The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
