▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 about the guilty ones: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 until death approached us". 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
