The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 has created man, 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 And observe the weight with equity, and make not deficient the balance. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 25
