Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and by the self accusing soul (that you will certainly be resurrected). 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 But when sight is confounded 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 (Some) faces on that day shall be bright, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 And it will be said: "Who can cure him and save him from death?" 27 (the angels of mercy or the angels of wrath,)" then, he will realize that it is time to leave this world. 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
